Sharing and Caring

In our SPHE lessons we have been talking about sharing things in the classroom like crayons, lego, duplo, books, pencils etc.. We also talked about caring for each other and respecting things that belong to other people.
The children have built this castle over a number of weeks. Most of the children have helped with the building of it. They shared the Lego as they built it.  It also shows that they respected what other children had built and they did not damage it.

Pictures

We love to look at photographs of us which were taken since we came to Senior Infants. We love our Witches Walk photos.

Construction

Construction is part of our Art and Craft programme. Here you can see our future Architects, Engineers, Artists and Mathematicians creating and inventing!

Saving

Two students from GMIT came to our classroom each week before Christmas for six weeks. They read stories to us and told us about how to save our money. They gave us money boxes for holding the money we save.

First Prize

Darren, from our class, won first prize for his picture of An Office which teacher entered in an Art Competition. We can see Darren in the picture after receiving his prize of a Labelling Machine and Money from Elwood Office Supplies. Well done Darren!

Bulbs

We sowed some Hyacinth bulbs in our classroom. We sowed some of the bulbs in a pot of clay. We put one bulb in a glass of water. We sowed two more bulbs outside in our outdoor garden.
We will watch and see which bulbs grow the fastest and we will find out the reason why.

Town Hall Theatre

We went to the Town Hall Theatre last Friday to see a show called Nubes meaning Clouds. It was part of the BaborĂ³ Festival. We saw six dancers create a world of moving objects and dream-like imagery utilising the theme of Clouds in the most magical way.
We went to the Town Hall by bus and that was very exciting. We discussed and drew pictures of our favourite parts of the show when we returned to the classroom.

Library Visit.

We walked to Ballybane Library last Friday. We were there for Storytime. We heard the story of The Widemouth Frog. We really enjoyed it. Jonathan played the guitar for us too. We looked at the books there. We were very tired by the time we had walked back to our classroom.

Bottle Bank

We visited the bottlebank last week as part of our Science lesson. We were discussing Recycling. Teacher brought in some bottles so we all went to the bottlebank and we decided into which bank each bottle should go. Two gentlemen came with a big box of various coloured bottles. We watched to see were they putting the bottles in the right banks. We know a lot about Recycling now.

Our Garden

We are settled back into school with our teacher Mrs Treacy. We are in Senior Infants now and we are kind to the new Junior Infants in the yard.
Kay came to visit us last week. She talked to us about our garden and how to take care of it. She helped us plant lettuce, cabbage and garlic. We will take care of them now. We will water them when they need water and watch them grow.
